    Second Skin

What happens when the familiar loses its recognizable form?

Lee Eun Young presents new work titled 'Second Skin' at Kunstruimte ALARM and Museum van Alle Tijden in Beugen. In her multifaceted work—including drawings, collages, assemblages, installations, and performances—she explores the interconnectedness of body, memory, and identity.

Lee Eun Young was born in Busan, grew up in South Korea, studied in Seoul and Paris, and lives and works in the Netherlands.
This multifaceted cultural background forms an important layer in her artistry.

In her recent work, Lee Eun Young wraps everyday objects.
The original identity of the objects disappears beneath a shiny, fragile layer: a 'Second Skin'.
What remains is a form that leaves room for imagination. What lies beneath this skin? What memory, event, or meaning is hidden behind the surface?

The everyday becomes a poetic carrier of memory and longing.
At the same time, the second skin refers to the body itself: to protection, vulnerability, pain, and the possibility of recovery.

Come and see an exhibition where familiar things become unknown – and where new stories emerge beneath a gleaming skin.
