Cor Knops is a painter, draftsman par excellence, who works with architecturally related shapes, which he captures on small and large surfaces on the painter's canvas with enormous precision and a touch of humor.
The works in ALARM are capsule-like shapes, objects that are looking for their place in space, or seemingly just wandering through the universe. The abstract approach, the serial approach and the analytical approach in his work are reminiscent of preliminary stages of architectural designs to concretize form and space.
Cor Knops leaves it open and he leaves the beauty, medium of paint, shape and space free for associative interpretations. Due to its repetitive serial design, the works sometimes have a hallucinatory effect.
