  • Anniversary exhibition 20 x 20 x 20

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the artist initiative Alarm, Ans Verdijk is organizing a major exhibition in Beugen.

I would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition 20 x 20 x 20 .

During this opening, Liesbeth Jans, program leader at the BKKC, and I will make a welcome speech. The mayor of Boxmeer, Karel van Soest, will also give a short speech.
    This exhibition runs from September 21 to October 26, 2014. Fifty-eight artists are participating, with the theme 20 x 20 x 20 .

The history of Alarm began in 1993, when Ans Verdijk organized the first exhibition. Cor Knops was the first artist to be invited to realize a solo exhibition. There was the option to spend the night in a caravan and work on an exhibition for a longer period.
The decision to found Alarm came from a feeling of loss. There were already initiatives in various major cities to show artists' work. Finisterre in Amsterdam and Artis in Den Bosch were examples of artist initiatives that gave artists great freedom to work and build an exhibition and were thus an important addition to the cultural life in those cities. Far from the big cities, these types of exhibition spaces are scarce. But Verdijk also focused on creating a workplace, exhibition space and meeting place in Beugen in order to give a new impetus to culture in Brabant.
Alarm's focus was on installation art. A visit to Alarm had to be a spatial experience first and foremost. The hall was used in its entirety for exhibitions that invited visitors to walk over, around and under the work of art.

In 1998 a new path was taken. The garden and the house were also made accessible for group exhibitions. Within the atmosphere of the living areas, works were exhibited that sometimes blended in unobtrusively into the house, but sometimes also created a completely different atmosphere. The exhibitions attracted many visitors every year.
In 2011, the construction of the Museum of All Times (MvAT) was completed. The museum shows a new solo exhibition every two months. The works can be viewed from the outside through viewing windows of different sizes. More than ninety artists exhibited in Alarm and the MvAT between 1993 and 2014.

The exhibition that will open on September 21; 20 x 20 x 20, once again opens up the Museum of All Times, Alarm, the house and the large garden for a large group exhibition.
There are fifty-eight participating artists, most of whom have created new work especially for this exhibition:

I recommend parking your car in the village center of Beugen. Given the crowds, there will be no parking space on the Oeffeltseweg. There is plenty of parking on the square in front of the church.
