    DRIFTING +/-

    From February 20 to April 9, 2023.
What am I seeing? And what does this look like? The objects are not completely unknown. Everyday objects often form the basis for her work. Jeanne Janssen places them in a different perspective through light, projection, movement and distortion. The photos and objects are combined and edited into a playful image in such a way that an alienating effect is created and can evoke an eerie feeling. Her fascination with shadows, which creates other shapes that sometimes refer very recognisably to figures, gives it an extra dimension.

The objects are composed of household items. By sawing, cutting, discoloring and deforming it, the original function is lost and is often no longer visible. This misleads the spectator. One recognizes a familiar image, but it is composed of something completely different.
Jeanne Janssen's challenge is a constant battle with the (im)possibilities of the materials, the image and the environment. The themes of this exhibition are the remains of the past and present, desire and alienation.
'the experiment is the food for me and my work.'
The works may include installations, photographs, film, projections and printouts.
Words that apply to the work of Jeanne Janssen:
Human traits, remains of what was, organic shapes, time factor, playfulness, associatively pleasant, humorous, disturbing (sharp edge), open to interpretation.
