    Unusually ordinary

In the Museum of All Times, from August 30 to October 23, Mariena Steensma will exhibit a selection of works made from residual products of human consumption and human behavior, such as sealing strips from garbage bags, storage boxes that you get 'free' when you purchase toothpicks, flat bicycle inner tubes, toilet rolls and hair cuts. The works still have a visual connection with the previous function of the material, but a new story is also created by the new form or context.

In addition to being an artist, Mariena Steensma is also trained as a translator and designer. This means that she likes to search for the meaning of images, symbols and language. She gets her inspiration from everyday life. She presents everyday and recognizable resources in a new, sometimes absurdist framework. Her work is a play with the expectations of the viewer and asks whether everyday human habits and communicative expressions are really that normal. In addition to the different media that Mariena uses in her work, her presentation space is also diverse. She not only works in her studio, but also makes interventions in public space.

    'Garbage bag'
Made from sealing strips that you receive as a gift with many types of rolls of garbage bags. The material is not for sale, but had to come from other people who, like the artist, had a stack of comics in their kitchen drawer.
Now on display in The Museum of All Times.

Work by Ans Verdijk entitled Orion Nebulae can be seen in the ALARM art space.
Textile-related monumental airy figures combined with a linear associative tapestry.
As light as clouds with stories from the south of our country.
