    Pulled from the clay

Carel Lanters, visual artist, ARTEZ teacher, Pipe Player, researcher, performer and monumental designer exhibits from October 24. - Dec 15, 2022.

For this special museum in which the works of art can be seen day and night, Carel Lanters looked for recent but also older images that enter into a relationship in form, material and content. And they refer to the development of alchemy.

Processes such as stacking, sculpting and casting give his works their own identity and also a timelessness. That is why he did not look at the year of manufacture when making the selection for this exhibition, but at the mutual relationships and the relationship with the museum.

One of the older objects is a ceramic oven in the shape of a person. This is derived from thousands of years old drawings of Egyptian alchemical ovens.
A cloudscape was recently added to perfect the whole.
The recent object 'mask with balls and glass horn' is derived from this.
Storyteller 20, is an object from the series of the same name, adapted for this museum; sticks with masks that suggest a sound and, like a staff, give meaning to the person holding it.
